City of Namur – Restoration of large underground

It is a real historical maze in which it is not always easy to find one another.
On the 4 km underground 450 m are accessible on a guided tour.
This section has been the subject of a contemporary scenography which makes the remains more readable and boosts the visit. The new device allows: guide visitors, showcase architectural heritage, inform and revive the past.
These light and reversible interventions allow the heritage to be highlighted with the greatest respect for the site.
L’installation de cette scénographie nécessite, d’abord, une restauration du lieu. A sanitary status sheet was produced and identified specific pathologies (stability, water infiltration,).
A major restoration was therefore essential to ensure the durability of the monument and to install the scenographic device.
The underground is one of the elements whose restoration was financed with the framework agreement.
