Extension construction of the existing building of a new wing with 4 levels

Bruxelles / 2015

The extension has 4 levels including one in the basement (plus a half level buried) and includes:

  • On the one hand, two audiences of 125 seats each and their foyer. The two audiences have a symmetrical shape and span one level and a half (level -1.5 and -1 for one and level 0 and half of level 1 for the other). They are on flat slab and are arranged "head-to-tail".
  • on the other side: at level -1, a class of 53 students, a multimedia room and its storage, the technical rooms, an airlock, a corridor and the stairwells
  • at level 0: two class of 53 students, an office, a meeting room, an airlock, the corridor and the stairwells
  • At level 1: two class of 53 students, three offices, an airlock, the corridor and the stairwells
  • At level 2 : two class of 53 students, five offices, an airlock, the corridor and the stairwells
  • The transformation of two premises into computer rooms at level 1 and 2 (next to the connection with the extension) and the installation of an air conditioning system in these rooms;
  • The study and installation of additional roof insulation to reduce energy losses. At present, a layer of 3 to 4 cm of mineral wool is placed on the false ceilings.

The boiler rooms are replaced by new facilities sized to produce the heat needed for the existing EPHEC building and its extension.

No temperature control during the summer period is achieved. There is therefore no need to consider a refrigeration production. The implementation of mechanical night ventilation of premises is envisaged in order to evacuate the calories stored during the day.
